Sayedna Silouan visits Dresden near Stoke

His Eminence Sayedna Silouan visited our parish, St. Michael the Archangel in Dresden, on the weekend of the 2nd/3rd April. We were delighted to welcome Sayedna and after the Memorial and Great Vespers in the evening, he served the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning. On this Sunday, the 4th Sunday of Great Lent, it was the Sunday of our Holy Father, St John Climacus. Sayedna Silouan preached on the importance of prayer, confession and fasting – how it relates to the Scriptures, and how these cleansing actions help us to climb the steps of the ladder, from earth to heaven. Following the Liturgy, Sayedna joined us for a bring and share buffet lunch before giving each child an individual blessing as he left.
