The Metropolitan Visits St Helen, Colchester
Metropolitan Silouan visited St Helen’s parish in Colchester for the feast of SS Constantine and Helen, 20/21 May. He was received into the church and presided at Great Vespers. Then there was an excellent Dinner for the lay leaders of the congregation.
Next day His Eminence was at Matins, ordaining Martin Grob as a Reader, and served the Divine Liturgy with Father Alexander. Lunch for everyone followed in a marquee, where Sisters from St Elizabeth’s Monastery in Minsk also arrived to sell their wares.
It was a happy occasion, cut rather short by Sayedna’s understandable desire to get to York to share in that parish’s festivities for the same Saints. His visit was welcomed, and members are discussing ways in which to respond to his challenges of service and mission.
A photoalbum of Sayedna’s visit may be found here.
