Orthodox retreats are usually (but not always) based in monasteries. We are blessed in these Isles with:
• one large (double – male and female) Monastery at Tolleshunt Knights in Essex
• a new and upcoming Monastery “of all the Celtic Saints” on the Scottish Island of Mull
• and some small sketes.
At the moment, the St. John the Baptist Monastery at Tolleshunt Knights is probably the best equipped for visitors. Diocesan parishes, historically, have visited it for some time. The Monastery on Mull (below) will be receiving pilgrims in the near future.
* “Kilninian” – means the Church of St. Ninian. The church building will retain its dedication to St. Ninian and St. Cuthbert.
