Like many young people, I came to Orthodoxy through my parents' interest and
conversion. Being one of the youngest in our community, I was soon encouraged to
take an active role as an acolyte in the Altar. I particularly like the ceremony and
dignity of the Liturgy with its colour and incense.
Being very interested in history, I find the fact that in our Liturgy we worship as our
early ancestors did, a wonderful link to our past and heritage.
Also when I am still asleep on Sunday morning after working all Saturday evening until
11.00 pm, my old Dad bursting into my room offering me physical violence and severe
economic sanctions if I don't immediately get out of bed and accompany him to Church is a
strong incentive in my attendance.
